Well, the newest beta is looking very, very nice. I enjoy using it. Pierre, excellent work and I hope to keep using this app.

(rendered with art of illusion)

Here are some "ergonomic" bugs I would love to see fixed; I am using OpenGL with an nVidia FX5500:

-these areas flicker while resizing a box mesh: object list and axes display (xyz)

-open new window above ppmodeler (like notepad) and then minimize, leaves a huge white area in the ppmodeler window (graphics glitch?). Have to minimize/maximize ppmodeler again to fix this, or rotate the scene a bit.

-mouseover-ing on menu items causes flicker

-sometimes menus (like render menu, etc) will open "behind" the 3D canvas when clicked.

-any way to change the monospace font from courier to something else? Smile

-dropdown boxes (like in Cfg --> Start) sometimes take more than one click to activate

-sometimes submenus (like export) disappear on mouseover, requiring a second mouseover.

Thanks!

Hello,

thanks for your comments.
What is your operating system ? 95 ? 98 ? 2000 ? XP Home ? XP Prof ?

I don't have these problems, so I need more info in order to reproduce them.

I can reproduce this, and I will fix it.

Unable to reproduce it... I test it on XP Home and ATI 9000 PRO.
Will serach to see If I found this problem describe somewhere else...

Will fix this.

not able to reproduce it... will have a look.

Trying to do this on most part of the main window. still have to do it on the other windows...

circular wrote:

Ok, will fix.

circular wrote:

The submenu disapera when the mouse leave the current main menu item.
Will try to make it less sensible.

Great, thanks Pierre! I realize these are not major problems so I'm glad you can take the time to fix them.

Can you download the latest beta (updated today, see this thread), and check for the flickering problems ? font problems ?
I have to fix the combo problem... will do this soon.
I also notice that the parameter area is not updated when moving a mesh.

Okay, I downloaded it and tested for a while:

Resizing box: Red FOV text (upper right-hand corner) flickers a tiny bit but that's it. Thanks for fixing the other parts!

White overlap problem: Still there, I guess it's difficult to track down.

Mouseover-ing on menu items causes flicker: Still there.

Sometimes menus (like render menu, etc) will open "behind" the 3D canvas when clicked: Still happens

Menus disappearing: Seems fixed, thank you!

Sorry, I know you worked on it, but it is still flickering for me Sad I don't have any other apps that do this (3D or not) so I'm at a loss as to what might be happening. Basically it's as if all the menu items refresh every time you roll over one menu item. I think this is where the flicker comes from.

I tried to make a video of it, but I guess because of the hardware acceleration it didn't show the flicker. It did show one menu opening behind the 3D canvas, but I guess you already know about that.

No, video won't work.
I'm very surprised.
I have no flickering at all. I change the drawing function of menu, so that only the box around the selected item is redrawn. And it is working for me, no flickering a all.

Bonjour pierre,

1) demarre ppmodeler (mode 1 vue 3D)

Config

Portable ACER 1522
AMD 64 athlon
512 ram
Nvidia FX GO 5700 - 64 ram video
WIN XP pack 2

Unhandled exception in ppmodeler: 0xC0000005 : Acces violation

Name: this
Value: Cxx0017: Error: symbol "this" not found
