Hi,

here some things from my notes regarding the selection modes in Alb3D.

edge select: be able to click on the edge to select it instead of clicking on the center point of the edge

object select: be able to click on the object to select it instead of clicking on the center point of the object

multi mode: mixed edge select + vertex select + face select mode

Hi,

for mesh and edge selection, it is possible, will do it (but for the mesh, I like to display the name when the mouse is over, and without selection handle, this will be strange, no ?)
I would add one of my own:
select the mesh when selecting a face or an edge or a vertex and nothing is selected yet.
For the selection mix, it is possible, but what will be the purpose of that ?
An automatic mode is possible: selecting one vertex, or one edge or one face depending on the type of element under the mouse.
I add also in mind a special modeling toolbox:
- the user can select vertices or edges or faces in this toolbox (one type at a time)
- the tools there will have different action depending on the selection type, for example, extrude face, edge or vertices tools in one button.

what do you think ?

For myself i do not need the name displayed. Smile The names are in the object list when i need the names i look there.

Hmm, so i have to be in face/edge/vertex mode to select a object?

Maybe i was not clear on the multi mode. When this mode is activated and nothing is selected and you click on a vertex/edge/face it will switch automatically to the appropriate mode.

Good idea. Sounds a bit like my multi select mode but your special mode could be the better choice. Smile

It is possible to go to the vertex toolbox without a mesh selected.
In this case, it is not currently possible to select a vertex, and each action result in a message: "Please, select a mesh first".
I was thinking of removing this limitation: When you are in vertex mode, without a mesh selected, the first click will select the mesh and the vertex.

done. No more selection handle for meshes and edges.
Will be out soon, I need a litlle more time to finish the saving of compositing nodes.

I posted some other suggestions in a new thread.

Hi,

i'm at work so just a short note about selections. Smile

Sometimes i select a face or faces and want to work with the vertices/edges on these faces but when i switch to face/edge mode the selection is gone.
How about keeping the selection and select the appropriate edges/vertices when switching?

Maybe make these as an option in the prefenreces like "Keep selections".
